Privacy Policy

Overview
AEO is built with privacy as a foundation. The extension analyzes webpage content locally in your browser and does not collect, store, or transmit your browsing history or the content of pages you visit. This policy describes all information handling related to AEO and this website.
Data We Collect
We collect a minimal amount of personal data. If you contact us via a form on this website, we collect your name and email only to respond to your inquiry. If you purchase a Pro subscription, your payment is processed by LemonSqueezy. We receive confirmation of your purchase and a license key, but never your payment card details. When you activate a Pro license, AEO sends the license key and an anonymous instance identifier to LemonSqueezy to verify your entitlement. No browsing data or page content is included in this request. Under GDPR Article 6, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries as the basis for processing contact-form data, and on performance of a contract for processing license data. We do not use these details for marketing without your separate opt-in.
Data We Do Not Collect
AEO does not collect browsing history, the content of pages you analyze, personally identifiable information from websites you visit, or any usage telemetry from the extension. All page analysis happens locally on your device.
robots.txt Requests
When you analyze a page, AEO makes a single HTTP GET request to the analyzed domain's robots.txt file (for example, example.com/robots.txt) as part of the machine-readability assessment. This request originates from your browser and may reveal your IP address to the server hosting that domain. No data from this request is transmitted to our servers.
License Verification and LemonSqueezy
Pro plan licenses are managed by LemonSqueezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC). When you purchase a Pro subscription or activate a license key, AEO communicates with LemonSqueezy's API to verify your license. This involves transmitting your license key and an anonymous instance identifier. LemonSqueezy acts as a data processor under GDPR. Their privacy policy is available at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Local Storage
AEO may store preferences and a short-lived analysis cache (cleared when the browser session ends) locally using Chrome's storage API. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension.
PDF Reports and AI Prompt Generator
The PDF report is generated and saved locally on your device. If you use the AI prompt generator and paste the output into a third-party AI service, that service's privacy policy governs how they handle that content.
This Website
This website does not use tracking cookies or analytics.
Third-Party Services
Other than LemonSqueezy for license management, AEO does not integrate with any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. No information about your browsing activity is shared with any third party.
Your Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR including the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. If you are located in Canada, you have similar rights under PIPEDA (and provincial laws such as British Columbia's PIPA) to access and request correction of your personal information. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have analogous rights under those laws, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Since AEO does not collect personal data during normal extension use, these rights primarily apply to contact-form submissions and license records. To exercise your rights, contact us at aeo@deanvelopment.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner).
Data Retention
Contact-form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry. License validation data is managed by LemonSqueezy per their data-retention policies. Local extension data is stored on your device until you remove the extension.
Children's Privacy
AEO is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 (or the applicable digital-consent age in your jurisdiction, which is 13 under US COPPA and may be 13–16 in EU/EEA member states). If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact aeo@deanvelopment.com and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy and will update the 'Last updated' date when we do. Continued use of AEO after changes constitutes acceptance.
